THE VANISHING NATURE

I was going alone in a field,

thinking about the harvest and yield.

Nowadays I can’t see the sand;

where we played with fond.

The grass was so green as never,

I worry that; I miss it for ever.

Pastures and land so pretty,

would not be seen after years fifty.

The rivers so cool and fast,

don’t know where it went past

The air too cool and clean,

where it could be seen?

The flowers gave smell so sweet

now without smell and colour; who will greet?

Animals: Elephant, deer and lions,

will soon be extinct from us fine.

Even the laughs and smiles;

of all the humans went far miles

Oh God! give me back my nature,

I will care it well for future.

‘X,Y,Z’- THAT’S ALL ABOUT!

Once in a while one might think,

What is life all about?

It is all about ‘X’ periences and dream ‘Z’,

Which can’t be left out!

Thus life starts with ‘X’ and ends in ‘Z’,

And thinking about the ‘Y’ in between, may blow up your head!

What’s this ‘Y’ all about?

Expand ‘Y’ to get ‘why’!

And that’s all about!

The ‘why’ is a question mark in our

Life which keeps us running!

The question mark hides a lot of answers,

Which are beyond discovering!

And once you uncover the ‘?’,

Then you would be astonished with a ‘!’

This ‘!’ leads you to your dream ‘Z’ and

Then back to your ‘X’periences.

There we came all the wayback

from where we had begun!

One might ask, what is this all about

Then, I would say, this is all life is about!

EXAMINATION

When you sit for an examination,

it seems you’re fighting for the nation!

Your palms are sweaty, your eyes see double,

You know then that you are in trouble!

When the questions come in front of you,

You wish you could cry Boo Hoo !!

The English paper- it’s full of questions,

You wish you had learnt prepositions;

And done your long dash impositions!

The science paper –its divided into three,

Physics, Bio and Chemist—tree.

The questions go on till infinity…….

The Maths paper- it’s made for a brainiac,

Designed to make you a mental maniac!

The social science is full of facts,

Reminds you of chasing rats!

The French paper-you think is easy,

But makes your head go perfectly greasy!

After your exams, you think you’re free;

But the teachers cut you to pieces three.

Your marks-they make see stars

You wish tat you could fly to Mars.

But the worst part- here it comes!

The final exams are yet to come.

LARK

I am high up in the clouds, the wind is rushing by

I am high soaring through the air, up to the sky

Towns are far below, where people come and go

It’s better being here up high

People call me a lark, that’s a nice name

I fly to other lands and come back again

If I stay too long, the weather gets too cold

I need the sun and I don’t like the rain

I make my nest in Oman and

I fly across the land and sea

It’s a deep blue sea

I make my nest in the trees near the sand

Then I come and go I am completely free

Why don’t you come too, up in the sky?

Are you happy on the land? It is better up high!

Come up here with me, there is so much to see

Do not stay down there, come up and fly.

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE

We have bigger houses and smaller families;

More conveniences,

but less time.

We have more degrees,

but less common sense.

More knowledge,

but less judgements.

More experts, but more problems

More medicines but less good health.

We’ve been all the way to Moon and back,

But have trouble crossing the streets to meet the new neighbour.

We have built more computers to hold

more information, to produce more copies than ever,

But have less communication;

we have become long on quantity,

but short on quality.

These are times of fast food and slow digestion,

Tall men and short character,

Steep profits and shallow relationships,

It is time when there is much in the window,

and nothing in the store room.

GOD’S GIFT FOR US

God has given us beautiful lips,

To open it only for good tips

He has given us wonderful eyes:

To be like the melting ice:

Melting during worries and also

Freezing during the hurdles.

He has granted us with many things:

To make us fly with our colourful wings

TRUE FRIENDS

You may have lots of friends

That you have made by the course of time,

But how any of them have been there

When danger has been in your time.

Think deeply into your heart

And you will find a friend that has been true.

You may have a dozens of friends

But true friends are few

I wish my friends to see me as a true friend

And that would not be new!

SEA

I opened my eyes

As the lovely sight has vanished!

All this was just a dream

A dream I would forget never

A dream that would last forever!

In the bright blue sea

How wonderful would it be?

To swim with fishes

And fulfill our wishes

It contains of mighty sharks

With different colours and marks

It also contains great whales

And different fishes with scales

There are many other creatures

With different and beautiful features

How wonderful would it be

To swim in bright blue sea.

TWILIGHT

While the sun has gone to rest,

When the stars shine down,

Moonlight tiptoes everywhere,

Quiet all around.

Shadows big and small are seen,

Fluttering on the wall.

But here in bed, I am not scared

By anything at all.

TRAVEL PLANS

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

Deep in the jungle? Deep in the snow?

Deep in the ocean to talk to a fish?

If you could go anywhere that you wish?

If I could go anywhere, here’s what I would do;

I would pop in the pouch of a kind kangaroo.

I would travel around for as long as I please,

And I would learn to say “thank you” in kangaroo language.

I would go through the hole of a needle like thread,

I would spin like a top on the point of my head,

I would skate on an ice cube; I would swim in a glass,

I would ride on a grasshopper, if one should pass.

I would pat a Giraffe on the top of his head,

I would find out for sure if North Pole was red,

And when I had been all that I want to see,

I hope I would know how to turn back in to me.

To you Brother

We are one
I know that,
Oh brother,
What would I do without you?

You are with me,
Hand in hand.
You are the angle of my life’s band.
You are a gift that Almighty offered me
Though I am unworthy to own you as my brother.

Oh brother,
You are the tune of my music,
You are the words of my song,
You are in every breath I take.

Oh brother,
You are in every part I own,
You are the fragrance of every flower I love,
And you are the light of my eyes.

MY FIRST ATTEMPT

Once my teacher told me,
“Write a poem” said she
I faced a little anxiety,
And said “god help me!”

As I did not know what to write,

And with my brain I had to fight,
All options seemed out of sight,
And I did not know what is right?

I thought of writing something real,

But gosh! It was a big deal,
And in my writing, I was late!
I couldn’t imagine of my fate!

I scribbled along some lines

About the tall trees of pines
But then I thought,
I could write about science!

But everything seemed extremely waste,

Suddenly an idea fell in haste
It was as sweet as honey,
As it was about money.

My heart and mind were filled with glee

I felt I had reached the finale
The words came to me fluently,
I felt, I created something finally.

With a proud feeling I showed my notes,

As if I had been free from loads!
When the teacher commented, “it was good”
I smiled like Red Riding Hood !

But then inside I felt some fear

When my teacher came near
Then in my eyes came a tear
When her words sounded loud and clear
“Could you write another poem dear?”

NATURE

Nature is God’s greatest gift

But what do we do to it?

We throw stuff on the road side

Making it difficult for those who ride

Later we complain about its dirty state

Not realizing our own mistake.

Oh! When will we humans ever learn?

T protect fauna and fern

When will we stop burning trees?

And allow animals and birds to live in peace

So let us come together and make this world a better place.

Or else we will have to see the end of human race.

Bhavik Suresh X 'A'

Sadness is thorns,

Happiness is sweet corns.

Achievements are the big hits.

GET MOTIVATED

It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare,

It is because we do not dare that they are difficult.

Don’t tell God how big your problems are…

Tell your problems how big your God is.

I difficult moments behave like a duck…

Keep calm and unruffled on the surface…

But keep paddling away like crazy underneath.

To the world you might be one person

But to one person you might be the world.

The dawn does not come twice to awaken the man..

Contented people do not do not achieve success.

Coming together is a beginning,

Keeping together is progress,

Working together is success.

To succeed be different, be daring and be there first.

Great heights attract us, not steps to them.

When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.

MY PAST

There I was resting at the beach
After giving my dogs a bone each
Thinking of my past when I used to teach
And if I were in a bad mood the students would offer me a peach.

They knew it they went out of limit they would all get a beating each
So the would make sure that the big long stick was nowhere near my reach
And when I retired nothing more to give or to teach
All those who loved me gave me a big loving hug each.

Love letter of a maths student!!!!!!

My dear love,
Yesterday, I was passing by your rectangular house in trigonometric lane. There I saw your cute circular face, conical nose and spherical eyes, standing in your triangular garden.

Before seeing you, my heart was a null set, but when a Vector of magnitude (likeness) from your eyes at deviation of theta radians made a tangent to my heart, it Differentiated.

My love for you is a quadratic equation with real roots, which only you can solve by making good binary relation with me. The cosine of my love for you extends to infinity. I promise that I should not resolve you into partial functions but if I do so, you can integrate me by applying the limits from zero to infinity.

You are essential to me as an element to set. The geometry of my life revolves around your cute personality. My love, if you do not meet me at parabola restaurant on date 10 at sunset, when the sun is making an angle of 160 degrees, my heart would be like a solved polynomial of degree 10.

Yours ever lovingly,

CHILDHOOD

Childhood is a magic castle of sand

Then it is vanished by a teenage wand

Childhood, the most sweet part of life

Where for happiness no one has to strive

Oh! Those exploring childhood days

I miss them in so many ways.

Little games in the evening when all friends gathered,

Those days when we had nothing to bother

Free periods in school when we roamed around

And sung and danced and made loud sound.

Now life has become hectic and increased its pace

And we have to struggle hard to win life’s race

Sometimes I wish those golden days come back again…

Where we all were happy and had no pain

Oh ! Those beautiful childhood days

I do miss them in so many ways.

FRIEND

A friend……………….

Accepts you as you are,

Believes in you.

Cares for you,

Doesn’t give up on you,

Envisions the whole of you,

Helps you,

Invites you over.

A friend………………

Knows you inside-out,

Tells you what is right, what is wrong,

Likes you for what you are.

A friend……………....

Offers you support,

Understands you,

And guides you on the right path.

So if you have a friend, you are lucky

And if you do not have a friend, try to get one

For it makes a big difference in your life.

FAMILY

Family is the word that has love in it.

Everyone cares for each other.

Troubles may come,

But they are there to comfort you.

Life may be tough,

But they make it easy for you.

Family love each other the same.

No peace, joy and happiness in their lives.

Times change, so do families.

These days’ families live apart,

For simple reasons they part.

Father here, mother there

Sister here, brother there.

But still there are chances

Where the worst can become the best.

Just think how joyful this world would be.

If families were never apart and always one.

With nothing but peace, joy and happiness in their lives.

CLOSE YOUR EYES

Close your eyes my little one,
The owl says it’s night.
Comets burn a dark blue dome
With tales of fiery light.

Close your eyes my little one,
Sleep till the break of the day,
Listen the stars are singing,
Fruit bats are out to play.
Close your eyes my little one,
And dream a little dream,
Of jeweled fishes gliding
Along a golden stream.

Close your eyes my little one,
And when you wake with light,
I will still be there beside you,
And we’ll play till the edge of night.

Close your eyes my little one,
I cannot sing anymore,
I am hungry and tired and thirsty,
And I will sleep by your side on the floor.

HOW MANY FRIENDS

The old man turned to me and asked

“How many friends have you?”

Why 10 or 20 friends have I,

And named a off just a few….

He rose quite slowly with effort

And sadly shook his head

“A lucky child you are

To have so many friends”, he said

But think of what you’re saying

There is so much you do not know

A friend is just not someone

To whom you say “hello”

A friend is a hand to pull you up

From darkness and despair

When all your other “so called” friends

Have helped to put you there

It is a voice to keep your name alive

When others have forgotten

But most of all a friend is a heart

A strong and sturdy wall

For from the heart of friends

There comes the greatest love of all!!!!

So think of all I’ve spoken

For every word is true

And answer once again my child

How many friends have you???

And then he stood and faced me

Awaiting a reply

Softly I answered

“If lucky……. One have I”

“You”!!!!!
